Question 1

What is the difference between a valet and a detail?

Accepted Answer

A valet is a thorough clean — inside and out — that removes dirt, grime, and everyday mess to restore your car to a presentable condition. Detailing goes much further: it involves machine polishing to remove swirl marks and scratches, paint decontamination, clay bar treatment, and the application of protective coatings. Think of a valet as a deep clean and a detail as a full restoration and protection service.

Question 2

How long does a full valet take?

Accepted Answer

A standard Full Valet typically takes 3–5 hours depending on the size and condition of the vehicle. Larger vehicles such as SUVs, vans, or 4x4s will naturally take longer. Our Deep Clean Valet can take 5–8 hours, and our Luxury Valet — which includes machine polishing — can take a full day. We always allocate enough time to do the job properly rather than rushing.

Question 3

Do you come to my home or workplace?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we are a fully mobile service. Our team comes to you, whether that is your home, workplace, or any other suitable location across West Yorkshire. All we need is access to a water supply and a standard 240v power socket. If you do not have access to these, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to accommodate.

Question 4

What areas do you cover?

Accepted Answer

We cover the whole of West Yorkshire, including Wakefield, Leeds, Castleford, Pontefract, Normanton, Ossett, Barnsley, Wetherby, and surrounding areas. We also operate from The Detailing Lounge studio in Normanton (WF6 2LP) for customers who prefer to drop their vehicle off. If you are unsure whether we cover your area, just give us a call.

Question 5

What is Paint Protection Film (PPF) and do I need it?

Accepted Answer

Paint Protection Film is a virtually invisible urethane film applied to the exterior of your vehicle to protect the paintwork from stone chips, road debris, scratches, and UV damage. It is self-healing — minor surface scratches disappear with heat. PPF is particularly recommended for new vehicles, high-performance cars, or any vehicle where preserving the paintwork is a priority. It is a long-term investment that can significantly maintain your car's value.

Question 6

How long does Paint Protection Film last?

Accepted Answer

High-quality PPF, when professionally installed and properly maintained, typically lasts 7–10 years. The film comes with a manufacturer's warranty, and our installations are backed by our own workmanship guarantee. Longevity depends on factors such as exposure to harsh weather, how the vehicle is washed, and whether a ceramic coating is applied on top of the PPF for added protection.

Question 7

What is a ceramic coating and how is it different from wax?

Accepted Answer

A ceramic coating is a liquid polymer that chemically bonds to your vehicle's paintwork, creating a semi-permanent protective layer. Unlike traditional wax, which sits on top of the paint and lasts weeks, a ceramic coating bonds at a molecular level and can last 2–5 years or more. It provides superior hydrophobic properties (water beads and rolls off), UV protection, chemical resistance, and a deep, glossy finish that is far easier to maintain.

Question 8

Can you remove swirl marks and scratches?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Swirl marks and light to moderate scratches can be removed through machine polishing — a process we offer as part of our Level 1, 2, and 3 Detailing packages. The extent of correction depends on the severity of the defects and the depth of the paint. During a consultation, we will assess your paintwork and advise on the level of correction achievable. In some cases, very deep scratches may require a respray rather than polishing.

Question 9

How should I wash my car between valet appointments?

Accepted Answer

We strongly recommend the two-bucket wash method using a pH-neutral car shampoo and a quality microfibre wash mitt. Avoid automatic car washes — the brushes and rollers are notorious for causing swirl marks and scratches. Touchless jet washes are a safer alternative if you are short on time. After washing, dry with a clean microfibre drying towel rather than a chamois leather to avoid marring the paint.

Question 10

Do you offer a maintenance plan after detailing?

Accepted Answer

Yes — we offer maintenance valet packages designed to keep your vehicle in showroom condition between full details. Our Maintenance Valet (from £80) includes an exterior wash, decontamination, and a spray sealant top-up. For customers with ceramic coatings, we recommend a maintenance detail every 3–6 months to inspect the coating, top it up if needed, and keep the finish performing at its best.

Question 11

Is a deposit required to book?

Accepted Answer

Yes, we require a £30 deposit at the time of booking to secure your slot. This is deducted from the total cost on the day. The deposit is non-refundable if you cancel within 48 hours of your appointment, but we are happy to reschedule with at least 48 hours notice. Deposits can be paid securely online through our booking system.

Question 12

What payment methods do you accept?

Accepted Answer

We accept all major credit and debit cards, bank transfer, and cash. Payment for the balance is due on the day of the appointment once the work is complete and you are happy with the results. For larger jobs such as full details or PPF installations, we may request a larger deposit in advance.

Question 13

Are your products safe for all paint types and colours?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We use professional-grade, pH-neutral products that are safe for all factory paint types, wraps, and PPF. We stock a range of specialist products for matte and satin finishes, which require different care to gloss paintwork. If your vehicle has a non-standard finish, please let us know when booking so we can ensure we bring the correct products.

Question 14

How many awards have you won?

Accepted Answer

We are proud to have been named Yorkshire Mobile Valeting Service of the Year six times — in 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025, and 2027. These awards reflect the consistent quality of our work and the trust our customers place in us. With over 429 five-star reviews across Trustpilot and Google, we let our results speak for themselves.

Question 15

Can you valet a brand new car?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely — and we strongly recommend it. New cars often leave the factory or dealership with light swirl marks from the transportation process and dealer preparation. A New Car Detail (from £499) includes a full paint decontamination, machine polish to remove any pre-existing defects, and the application of a ceramic coating to protect the paintwork from day one. It is the best investment you can make in a new vehicle.
